Works but needs work
I bought my 510 on Amazon about two months ago. It works but I'd buy something different if I could start over. The programming was a nightmare. All went well until final step where you load the program into the remote. Kept bombing out with some kind of data error. Attempted to find a solution and solution was to keep trying eventually it will complete. What should have taken 5 minutes, took 3 hours. I haven't seen anything work this poorly since the 1960's. After finally getting the program fully loaded, the remote does work. I don't think I'll ever try to improve my initial program as I don't want another frustrating 3 hour download. I also find the keypad is made for something other than a human. I have average size hands but after two months I still have trouble with the tiny keys. The volume and channel up/down are very hard to operate. You also have trouble working it in the dark. The backlight is not of much value. The reason I bought this remote was that my wife claimed she couldn't watch the "big" tv because of all the remotes. It really didn't fix that problem because she wanted something "easy" and the 510 is not that easy. Also when you power on and it goes through initial setup, you have to set the remote on the arm of the chair and not touch it until the lights go out. It takes quite a while to send all the commands and if you hand hold it something always gets missed. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because it does work but if you want quick smooth operation for the whole family, keep shopping.

Didn't quite have all the buttons yet.
I don't have all the buttons programmed to control this Toshiba SD-V296 Tunerless DVD VCR Combo yet. All I got missing is tape speed control, and a few other odds and ends (tracking, perhaps). I'm ordering in the original remote so I can properly teach it the proper commands. Other than that, I'm able to control more of the DVD player functions.

No macro (sequence) capability???
I'm baffled why logitech would remove sequences from their new models like this one and the 900. This is a big time deal breaker in my book. If you get this remote expecting to be able to program a button to do more than one command, you'll be sorely disappointed. Imagine you want to toggle captions on your tv, and this take 4 button presses to navigate your tv menu to do it. A simple macro like this can be put on a single button on just about any programmable remote. It is impossible to do on the 1100 unless you make it part of an activity. Something like this was very easy to do on their previous model. Just be aware of what you're getting and don't automatically assume newer is better. The pictures may be prettier, but at the expense of important functionality. Don't be taken in by looks alone, and pass on this major blunder by logitech. Maybe they'll come to their senses and release a 1200 that is at least as functional as a $10 remote.

Wouldn't do what I wanted
I was looking for a product that would learn a group of commands. However, the Harmony is limited to no more than 5 commands.

Quite possibly the best GPS EVER!!!!!
My boyfriend and I just drove our winnebago from Buffalo, NY to Casa Blanca, NM for a wild and crazy adventure. We ended up getting lost somewhere outside of Nashville. We stopped in a mall parking lot to get some sleep and buy a GPS in the morning. After pricing a few GPS's at some of the stores we had our sights set on a TomTom XL 330S, but the salesman, William, urged us to buy this Logitech model. William proceeded to tell us that this was what we needed. He said it had all of the features that we were looking for. Ie. Text to talk, bluetooth, AM transmitter, along with maps of the US, Canada, and Mexico.
There was a sign that stated that if we opened a chargecard we would get either 15% off, or one year to pay it off. My boyfriend, being the Jew that he is, decided to open the card and take the 15% off. William showed us a case and a SD card for it also. All and all the purchase was for around $415 after the discount and tax.
We took it out to the winnebago to set it up, but it did not come with a charging adapter or holding dock. So we went back into the store, and William sold us a set of four AA batteries and a high powered magnet. He said that it does not come with a charger, but if we set it on top of the magnet the lithium ions would keep the batteries charged. He also gave us a roll of red yarn to hang it from the rearview mirror.
So we went back out to the car, and still couldn't figure it out. Mind you, my Jewish boyfriend is a technical genius. We drank gin and tonics and played with it for about three hour , but still couldn't figure it out. We went back inside to ask william if he could help us with it, and he happily obliged. We offered him a drink, but he declined. I guess he was on the clock and didn't want to get fired. He was touching all of the doodads and trinkets when he just shoved his whole hand in his mouth. I could see his fingers bumping around inside his scrawny little throat. Before I could ask him what he was doing, he vomitted a boat-load of phlegm right onto our brand new GPS! He wiped his sloppy hand all over the captains chair and smiled. My Jew boyfriend and I were in such disgust that we were speechless. William then ran out of the vehicle yelling horrible anti semitic slurrs.
We went back into the store demanding a refund. We spoke with a supervisor, but he said because it was filthy he would not take it back. He also said that nobody by the name of William worked there. Feeling like we were duped out of $400, we hit the road once again. My boyfriend, copiloting, was still messing around with the GPS. And I'll be damned, He figured it out. It was just like William had said. He hung it from the rearview mirror in its yarn cradle, and stuck the magnet to the back.
We made it all the way to our destination safely, while This amazing little Logitech system navigated our way. I would strongly urge anybody in need of a GPS to look at this model.

Does it all
I own a DVD, HD TV, and cable box, which all have their sound routed through my reciever. I also have a Roku player which has its sound directly connected to the TV. Switching between gadgets has always been a pain - turning on one device, turning off another, changing video input on the TV and changing audio source. This guy does it all. Set up was a breeze. now one button is all I have to press to go from DVD to cable (or Roku player).

After I initially set it up, I couldn't control the roku player - it initially set it up to play and pause, but I couldn't navigate. Went back to the setup software and found all of the options. Its a very powerful remote in that you can assign different buttons to do different things if you really want. Basically the remote has buttons and the software knows the commands for your device, and you can reassign commands however you like. Of course, not too many people will want to set the fast forward button to rewind and vice versa, but that is theoretically possible.

I don't mean to intimidate anyone over the set up, just pointing out that you can customize the remote to a further degree than I imagined. In most circumstances, you won't need to customize buttons or add functions (the receiver, TV, cable box, and DVD player all worked flawless once I specified the models). It was just that Roku player I had to manually set up a bit. Took 5 more minutes and made me quite happy. I'm really impressed with the capabilities and completely satisfied with the purchase. I see no need to pay an extra $50+ dollars for touch screen functionality. But I guess those other models can control more than 5 devices, so that may be a requirement for some (just not me). If you use more than 2 remotes, buy this.
